Live Life!

As a child who grew up in the times that home computers were new and used by myself once a year primarily for “Paintshop Pro”, and phones only showed the numbers going out and coming in, I can say that I miss those times very much. I was free.

As a teenager, I used the computer only for an hour a day (the house rule) to email, use msn messenger, scan pictures of my crush Elijah Wood (I seriously still don’t know why, so don’t ask), and illegally download music and burn it onto cd’s…I know, I know…evil. “What about phones?”, you ask. Well, cell phones were just coming out as the cool thing to have in high school, and I didn’t have one or have the need for one. The home phone on the other hand was used constantly…and I knew everyone’s phone number by heart. I don’t anymore. I was still free, but less so.

As an adult, the computer has been used by me…a lot…

Running my store(s), checking FB, email, Craigslist, Pinterest, spying….

Let’s just say that I use it a lot, BUT, I am not consumed by it and I feel it is an essential tool in my creativity.

My phone, on the other hand, consumed me…checking it every 5 mins for updates on fb, playing mindless games, checking for texts, and missed calls. That is until about a month ago, the screen went black…I could only receive calls and make calls out to the last person who called me (only through a guessing game of where the buttons were). Since then, I have gotten so much done, so many projects completed, and found that my childhood love of completing crafts came back…full forceJ I’m feeling free again.

Just the other day, I witnessed some people so caught up in their phones, they barely communicated with one another (ok, I witness this all the time, but this time it was very apparent). I thought, what would they be like without their phones? What would we talk about? Would there be more laughter in the air?

As of May 22nd, I am due for an upgrade on my phone. Will I get a touch screen that can use the internet? Most likely not. I want a phone that has texting and calling. That’s. It. Period. I want to live!

Dinner for lastnight+tonight: Minestrone Soup and Olive Garden Breadsticks

Minestrone Soup Recipe
Copycat Olive Garden Breadsticks

Amazing! the soup is basically vegan which works good for me since im trying to eat less meat unless its local/organic/etcetcetc...also the only change i made was 1) I didnt have 2 veggies on the list (the zuchinni and onion) but i used dried onion and it worked fine. and 2) I used dried beans instead of canned since i have so many of them, but make sure to soak them the night ahead other wise they turn out kinda crunchy...i found out the hard way.
Despite the beans, the soup turned out amazing!

Make sure to have time for the breadsticks to rise otherwise you will have HEAVY breadsticks and eating one will feel like you just ate 5....

Great dinner=great leftovers for tonight:)

Breakfast Jan 8th, 2013 and decided on a language!

Breakfast this morning was: ground up almonds, walnuts, and oats mixed with lemons and apples and topped with rice milk. SO GOOD.!

Whats for dinner?: Jan 6th, 2013

Tonights dinner is simple, since im just getting over a migrane that....well...lets just say it left me dehydrated, it was that bad...ANYWAYS...dinner:)

Simple. Savory. To the point.

Avocado Egg Salad Sandwich

Yield: 1 sandwich.

1/2 Avocado
1 hardboiled egg
Just enough salt to taste and pepper if you choose

Mix all together and smash onto freshly toasted bread...mmm.

PS this is alot quicker if you have an egg that is already boiled:)

no pics, sorry but im sure you can imagine what it looks like:)

YAY! ...plastic water bottle ban!!

Lets just say that I am overjoyed about this town's decision. Yes, people could go to the next town over and get their bottled water, but that is not the point. The point is...we are finally getting somewhere. Even if it is a tiny step...its still in the right direction:)

On another note, but kinda the same...A 16 yr old girl is asking the UK to ban plastic grocery bags...I say yes, yes, YES!

In other news tonight's dinner is at a teriyaki restaurant, so no recipes, BUT since my new years resolution is to try staying away from processed foods, i might just have to go vegetarian at this dinner...then again maybe not...im still debating...

Whats for dinner? Jan 3rd, 2013

mmmm:) Since i didnt have onions, i substituted onion powder, and it was just as good. If you are using dried ground ginger instead of fresh, use 1/16 tsp since it is more concentrated.

Happy New Year:)

New years resolutions:
  • Instead of focusing on just "no sugar," this year will be that but more in a "does my body NEED that"....im not explaining this well...lets just say less processed artificial foods and the more natural simple foods, the better. Also being kinder to my body and more diligent about staying away from my food allergies...:/ :)
  • Learn a second language. Still stuck between french and italian....ill probably end up with french knowing me...lol

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

As of 6 days ago, Draco started taking immune tabs and yesterday, I started him on reservatrol (immune suppliments-think vitamins for dogs...) and he is down to ONE prednisone per day instead of two!!! YAY!

He is starting to like pureed food better than before, and im not positive, but he seems to be gaining a little weight back..heres to hoping its not just wishful thinking!

Thank you, Jesus!
